Research And Planning: Some More Photos!

This is a photo of Steph dancing

Here she was adjusting her jacket

This is a photo of Steph but the sunlight had hit her face making it seem to light (bright)

This is another similar photo to the previous but again the sunlight got in the way

Here she was flicking her hair about but the sun removed half of her face

Here is Steph again looking up but the sunlight once again got in the way

This is a full body photo of Steph and the bricked background

This photo was taken just for "banter".

This photo shows most of the background & doesn't centre Steph

Here is a full body image of Steph

I actually like this image because it emphasises her and she is centred but the sun got in the way

Here is Steph again smiling for the camera

(SIMILAR TO PREVIOUS)

This photo was one of my favourites because it just shows her personality and the fun

Similar to previous photos

Research And Planning: Equipment And Software List

For my magazine I need the following: A mac, tripod, camera, Photoshop and Indesign.

Research And Planning: Production Schedule

This is my production schedule; it shows when I plan to do what and the dates of what I am planning to do what. This will help me because then I will know whether I am upto date or not and what I have left to do. This is almost like a guidance for me.

Research And Planning: Videos For Audience

This is my video record for my target audience. I interviewed three people for my magazine and they gave me feedback as to what they wanted.
These individuals told me that they wanted a male model for the magazine. They thought that the type of magazine I am making fits with a male model. (Although my written questions came back with answers which said they wanted a female model).
The first individual thought that the name "in music" was really good because it fits with the target audience and that it made them think of music which is new in the industry etc.
She also thought that I should be using black, white and red for my magazine as it is conventional which many others have also said too.
She thought that the magazine should be consistent or it would look messy and she thought that the bands featured had to be rock or indie and those who my target audience will be aware of.
The second individual thought similar to the first and he thought that it would be really important to keep it consistent or else it wouldn't look neat.
The videos told me that if I didn't keep my magazine looking neat then it wouldn't fit the audience. The bands included bands like "Greenday" or "All Time Low". This fits in with the target audience because my target audience would be aware of these bands.
The last individual thought that the magazine I create should be "different" because there are too many magazines out there and it needed something that makes it stand out from them. He suggested that I do something that would go out the window.
The individuals I interviewed for my magazine helped me because they let me know which colours I should use for my magazine, whether my model should be male or female and they gave me in depth information on the questions I asked them.

Research And Planning: Video Questionnaire Questions

1) What comes into your mind when I say the word "In Music"? Why?
2) What three colours do you associate with rock magazines and why?
3)  What three colours do you associate with indie magazines and why?
4) Do you think that the font should be consistent all the way through the magazine and why?
5) Is there anything you think that needs to be in a magazine and why?
6) should the model be female or male? Why?
7) What bands would you like to see in this new magazine?
8) Do you think that the double page spread should have a large image? Why?

Research And Planning: Questionnaire Answers

On the link below I have my answers for the questionnaire I did for people's preferences on what they link in a magazine.

Research And Planning: Evaluation Of Previous Post

As you may have seen in my previous post, I used the DSLR camera to take a few photos inside and outside. I took some with the flash and some without.
For my magazine i found out that the best photos would come out outside. Natural light would be giving good quality photos and this is something which I wish to do. When I took the photos outside, the natural light made the photo almost glow. This added a really good effect on the image and made it look really HD.
For my magazine, I wish to take my photos outside, without the flash. This way it is not blurry as it is with the flash on inside.
The inside photos looked a bit blurry and this made the image look distorted which wasn't good at all. This made me not want to take the photos as it wouldn't look good in the magazine.

Research And Planning: My Magazine Cover And Contents Page Drafts

This is my doubly page spread idea for my magazine. I have added a few conventional features and have added the things that need to be there.

This is my contents page for my magazine. I have put in what needs to be put in for it i.e. an image and features. I may change these ideas over the course of making the magazine.

2) Do you think the model should be female or male?
3) What three colours do you associate with rock magazines?
4) What three colours do you associate with indie magazines?
5) How much do you think a magazine should cost?
6) Do you think the cover lines font should be the same as the masthead (title)?
7) Do you think that there should be a large image on the double page spread?
8) Do you think that the contents page should be theme as the front cover?

Research And Planning: Podcast

Research And Planning: Front Cover Of Magazine Draft

This is my draft of my magazine front cover. I have done it roughly as it was something that had come up in my mind quickly. The masthead will be totally different as it will be inspired by "DaFont". I hope to have similar cover lines but I will also add more. I wish to take another photo aswell as the medium close up as it then wouldn't look as if it was full of writing and no images.

Research And Planning: Masthead Feedback Twitter

WeI posted my three masthead ideas on twitter to gain feedback and to know what people thought of my three designs:
Firstly the one which had made the most impact in people was C.
Here we see that this tweet received 4 retweets with 8 favourites. This implied that most people thought that this masthead looked the best as they reposted on their timelines and favourited it, telling me they liked the idea.
A didn't have a big impact. Only 2 people here thought that this masthead looked effective and others thought it didn't because it didn't seem to be bold enough to be a masthead.
We see that B had one person saying they liked this. They didn't specify why they liked this particular masthead so this had implied to me that the masthead wasn't entirely a winner.
Here are just a few people who had commented on C saying that they preferred this one most. The second comment, "idk why it just looks more professional" implies that the masthead looks like something that's meant to be on magazine.

This is one of the main things that I noticed within the feedback. This person liked the third masthead because it looked "bold" and "constient".

Research And Planning: 3 Mastheads

These are the three mastheads which I have designed for my magazine. I believe that they are effective because they fit well with my theme and they are also simple yet still looking interesting.
